The Matilde Tamayo Foundation was established in 2016 on the initiative of its President and founder Francisco Pérez Tamayo, artistically known as Ciscu Tamayo. His mother is the President of Honor and gives name to the Foundation.
Among its aims we find the promotion of culture through contemporary art, promoting the study and its dissemination, giving support to artists from around the planet, conducting training activities, conferences and exhibitions in all types of formats and media. It will also preserve and disseminate the POP STRAM artistic style.
Ciscu Tamayo was born in the beautiful village of Arties, Val d’Aran (Lleida). In 2015, he acquired a traditional Aranese house in the town of Les, located next to the French border. Its purpose was to promote culture and art in the Aran Valley, being the headquarters of the Foundation, and starting the rehabilitation works to create a POP STRAM House-Museum, with rooms for Contemporary Art and Creation Workshop.
Rehabilitation works have been adversely affected by the cost overruns originally foreseen and other circumstances that question the initial approach. Recently its Board of Trustees has decided to move the headquarters to Barcelona, ??stopping the project of the house-museum to focus on the activities and purposes of promotion and dissemination of culture through art throughout the national and international territory.
The MATILDE TAMAYO Foundation was established on 05/05/2016 by public deed number 12, granted before the notary Mr. Mariano Pemán Melero, of the illustrious Colegio de Aragón, stating its registration in the Registry of Foundations of State competence by Ministerial Order of 05 / 05/2016 being the registration number assigned on 1819. The registration implies the recognition of general interest of its purposes. The Foundation is registered in the Registry of interest groups of the Administration of the Generalitat de Catalunya and its public sector with the number 917.
